Hyderabad: In a significant achievement for the Indian School of Business (ISB), Prof Anjal Prakash, Clinical Associate Professor (Research) and Research Director at the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, has been named as a lead author for the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Climate Change and Cities. This report, which will be part of the IPCC’s seventh assessment cycle, aims to provide critical insights into the role of urban areas in the fight against climate change.

The IPCC, a key UN body that assesses climate science and its impacts, delivers regular reports on the scientific basis of climate change, its potential risks, and strategies for adaptation and mitigation. The seventh assessment cycle formally began in July 2023 during the IPCC’s 43rd session in Nairobi, Kenya.

Prof Prakash is part of an esteemed global group of 150 climate experts, including coordinating lead authors, lead authors, and review editors, tasked with contributing to this important report. He is one of four Indians selected for this prestigious group, underscoring India’s growing influence in global climate change discussions.

A renowned climate expert, Prof Prakash has published over 34 research papers in leading peer-reviewed journals and has co-edited 9 books and 29 book chapters. His contributions to the field of climate change have made him a respected voice in both academic and policy circles.

The Bharti Institute of Public Policy, where Prof Prakash serves as Research Director, is one of India’s leading think tanks in public policy.
